In October 2020, CMA CGM launched a new linear service with weekly calls of vessels at NUTEP Container Terminal (part of DeloPorts).
Container carriers ANDANTE DINA and TRADER, both with a capacity of 800 TEU, will operate on the Mersin-Odessa-Novorossiysk-Ambarli-Piraei-Mersin route.
"CMA CGM is the fourth largest maritime transportation company in the world. We highly appreciate the trust in our services, our time and the time of our partners, therefore we guarantee efficiency and quality"- Oleg Nechaev, the CEO of SC Delo commented the start of cooperation.
According to the agreement, SC Delo, with its own towing fleet provides a wide range of agency services for vessels operating on the line of CMA CGM Group.
Its main goals were: to check the readiness and improve the skills of the actions of the command and control bodies, emergency rescue teams (hereinafter - NASF) and their equipment; checking the readiness for actions of the personnel of the facility during an emergency; assessment of the performance of the personnel warning system (including loudspeaker and sound) and communication with interacting bodies.
After the organizational part, which included the gathering of managers and officials - participants in the training, holding office meetings with subordinates and checking the technical readiness of communication and civil defense warning systems, the practical component of the training was implemented.
According to the introduction, as a result of the depressurization of the tank on the fuel truck on the territory of NUTEP LLC, a diesel fuel spill occurred with a threat of fire.
To eliminate it, one unit of the NASF, two units of equipment, a firefighting unit and a sanitary post were raised on alarm - only 14 employees. During the training, practical actions were worked out aimed at localizing and neutralizing a conditional oil spill, preventing the threat of a fire at the accident site and protecting nearby objects, checking people evacuated from buildings and providing them with medical assistance. The equipment of NASF and their knowledge of their duties was checked.
At the same time, the warning and communication system was checked, the employees were evacuated from the facilities of NUTEP LLC and visitors from nearby buildings. Additionally, the employees of NUTEP LLC have adopted standards for putting on gas masks.
Besides, the instructor-methodological and demonstration classes were held related to checking the equipment of the NASF, the work of the evacuation commission, alerting the points for issuing personal protective equipment and the management of rescue and other urgent work in the centers of destruction in the event of a technogenic emergency.
Previously, the chains with special grips were used for oversized containers handling. The dockers attached them to a crane spreader (reach stacker) and after that the oversized container was manually snapped onto fittings. This labor-intensive process took at least 20-30 minutes per container and it required additional human resources (at least 4 people). This naturally slowed down the vessel handling speed. Now, an oversized container handling takes almost the same time as a standard container handling. And there is no need for additional human resources as the frame and the oversized container are gripped directly by the crane spreader (reach stacker).
“All our efforts are aimed at increasing the operational efficiency of the terminal. We have already launched the unique deep-water berth in the south of Russia as a part of the NUTEP investment program developed till 2021. We are also modernizing the warehouse inland platform, purchasing and launching the new technological equipment. In addition, we optimize the processes at the terminal to increase the operating speed and to improve the service quality for our clients”, - said the NUTEP CEO Yury Matvienko.
TEC CONTAINER is the manufacturer of the semi-automatic extension frame for oversized containers with a capacity of 50 tons that was purchased by NUTEP at a price of 6.5 million rubles. It is used on all types of cranes (reach stackers) equipped with a standard spreader.
